Hi Everyone, The LMWA Board is required to notify you that, as a result of the sanitary survey findings from last July, LMWA was required to do the following: 1 - Correct and submit the Backflow Prevention and Cross Connect document for 2019. This document was not being correctly filled out by our previous operator. It basically says that we have 31 residential taps and one tap in the pump house and are therefore not required to do any backflow testing. I expect this rule to change in the coming years. We completed this on September 5th of last year. 2 - Submit and get health department engineering department approval for documentation that indicates that LMWA completed the installation of the approved cistern overflow prevention valve back in 2014. We're not sure why this was not completed nor why it was not identified back in the 2016 sanitary inspection. This was submitted on November 22nd of last year and marked as approved by the health department in February of this year. 3 - Test the raw water from the south well and submit results to the health department. Apparently, the well drilling company sampled for bacteria when the new well was drilled but did not run the full set of tests on the raw water. Identical testing of the treated water from the cistern has been conducted every year but the RAW water from the well must also be tested. This too was completed and approved by November 22nd of last year. The official notification document can be found here:
That's the scoop. Our water quality was never compromised but our paperwork was found to be lacking. We've got plans to make sure these issues don't arise again in the future. If you have any questions, ping me - I'm happy to discuss. Thanks and have a good evening, Phil
